Introduction to Lil´luminations

I´m going to give this photoblog-thingy a go. Probably the majority of uploads will be school projects and thoughts and reflections on lectures and on-going projects. Just thought it might be of some interest to some people back in Finland, and also to other students at the UCA. I´ll try to use this blog as a sort of digital online workbook or something like that. All feedback, comments and discussion is highly appreciated and encouraged. Thanks.

I will post all of the stuff as ´Pages´ which means they will appear on the right-hand side column under the ´Pages´ title. Obviously. I´ll also post an announcement on any updates here on the front page. Or at least I´ll try that first and if it doesn´t work I´ll try something else out.

Tokyo 2009: part 1 PUBLISHED

Here is a set of images from Tokyo, taken this summer.

There are more images to come in the near future, and I’m also trying to get back on track with the 365…

I am in the process of making a extremely limited edition (1 copy!) book from my Japan photographs, so all you art collectors out there take note! The book comes hand bound and with surprises!

Some uni work for a change. This one was an advertising project and the idea was to create a new ad campaign for an existing company, using their current or an older campaign as the starting point.

365 Project

I don’t make New Year’s resolutions but I decided I would try and take more photographs this year. As of now I will try to post a new photograph every day but because self discipline is not really one of my strongest points, I will not take too much stress over this so there might be days when I won’t post anything but I will post 365 photographs to this project during this year. Also, I don’t plan to post something I’ve shot the same day every day, but I’ll try to keep the photos at least relatively recent.

A few notes on the photographs then. As a photography student I tend to photograph as a ‘photographer’ more than as a ‘person’. I don’t usually even have a camera with me. Infact I almost NEVER have a camera with me, which means that there is almost no photographic record of my life, or of me since childhood. This project is my attempt to start a tradition for myself to take photographs as an individual instead of just photographing for uni or work or some other ‘external’ motivation. This is not to say that I don’t aim to make nice or ‘good’ photographs, but I will try and be less concerned with these qualities and focus more on what I shoot and why.

Perfect Worlds

Hey people, it´s been a while since my last update. Here´s the latest school project titled ´Perfect Worlds´. We were supposed to make a digital composite landscape so this is stitched together from three different shots.

PS. Just in case there´s some confusion: I´ll post single images here on the front page, like I did with ´Internal Landscapes´ so that they will be easier to access.
